In this talk, Dr. Fishman will broadly review wellness as the other side of healthcare and how lifestyle can affect our risks for illness and quality of life. He will discuss resilience in health as it pertains to our lifestyle practices and choices in food, movement, and mental health. Finally, he will draw attention to well-described “blue zones” where people live healthier, longer lives and draw connections to other familiar locations such as Folsom Physical Therapy.
Dr. Scott Fishman is the founding Chief of Pain Medicine at the UCD School of Medicine. He has the unique distinction of being formally trained in several medical specialties and subspecialties including Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Pain Medicine, and Palliative Care. In addition to being the author of three medical textbooks on pain management, he is also the author of several other books including The War on Pain and Listening to Pain. Dr. Fishman has engaged Folsom Physical Therapy & Training Center as an educational component to the UCD Pain Fellowship Program since 2001.
