Times: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

This four-day course is the fourth in the series of courses constituting the next generation of Folsom Physical Therapy OMT continuing education. Our courses focus on development of critical skills necessary to enhance clinical confidence, efficiency and professional fulfillment in today’s challenging medical-economic environment.

The goal of this course is to improve the clinician’s confidence, ease of practice, effectiveness and sense of professional fulfillment in the treatment of axial lower quadrant dysfunction.

By the end of the series, engaged course participants should be capable of:
  • Discussing the clinically relevant structure, function and interplay between the fascial, lymphatic, nervous, musculoskeletal and neuromotor systems that create patients’ lower quadrant clinical presentations
  • Quickly screening key indicators for the relative health, or type and magnitude of dysfunction present, in each component contributing to each patient’s unique lower quadrant presentation
  • Performing the detailed clinical examination necessary to determine the specifics of each lower quadrant patient’s unique thoracic cage, lumbar, pelvis and hip presentation
  • Producing safe and effective interventions for the most common types of axial lower quadrant clinical presentations regardless of diagnosis, body region or co-morbidities
  • Possessing the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate progression towards clinical expertise as the clinician matures in the profession

Orthopedic PT clinical expertise requires understanding of the interplay between body systems and the ability to interpret the contribution of each to the patient’s overall presentation. As such, instruction will include pertinent anatomy and pathology associated with, and interplay between, the lymphatic, fascial, nervous/endocrine, musculoskeletal and neuromotor systems. Clinical skill development will focus on sharpening reasoning, observation, manual and intervention proficiency.
