I think it’s fair to say that many people who reflect on their physical well-being and set fitness goals do so at about the same spot on the calendar. A new year can feel like a fresh start, a clean slate and maybe a second chance. Extra time and a shift from everyday routines make space for much needed self evaluation. When we take this moment to look deeper into who we are and who we want to be, many of us feel there are things we would like to change or improve on. Just for the record, I say us because I am one of those people.
In the context of all the recent and major changes in our lives, this feels like another important moment to take stock of our personal wellness. These past few months have been trying times. Many of us are worried about the health of our loved ones. Many of us want to hug our loved ones and can’t. Many of us desire to help people who feel unloved and don’t know how. Total body wellness includes both physical and emotional health and I believe the two are intimately related. How many times have your worries felt a little lighter after a workout? Or your outlook about life a little more optimistic? I know that is almost always my experience.
If you desire to make a positive physical change in your life, I encourage you to make an appointment with a therapist at our clinic. Whether your goal is to rehab from shoulder surgery or relieve yourself of chronic pain, we want to see more than just your numbers. We want to see you able to play with your grandkids again or to see you smile when you attend a graduation after comfortably tolerating a long car ride to get there. Whatever your goal is, please know that the whole team at Folsom Physical Therapy is dedicated to helping you achieve it. We strive to provide compassionate care which addresses all aspects of your well-being and we know that as your body feels better, your mind likely will too.
